Name: My Belle Country: United States State: Pennsylvania Metro: Philadelphia Gender: Female
Interests: I appreciate randomness and I'm always up for meeting new people. Obnoxious people bother me, but ignorance bothers me more. I tend to be a conspiracy theorist, but questions are a good thing. You have to gain and maintain my trust...once you break it I rarely grant it again. I like sushi, movies, traveling, art, relaxing outside on sunny days, dancing, trying different foods, and enjoying the company of great friends. Fun people, a great sense of humor, social justice, and the pursuit of empowerment keep me going in life.
Things I like:
Fun people. Serious people. Political people. Random people. Musical people. Studious people. Insightful people. Intelligent people. Adventurous people. Passionate people. Up-for-anything people. Worldly people. Honest people. Expertise: im not old enough to be an expert on anything Occupation: Other

| Me: i just feel like im in a movie Sister: bridget jones... Sister: be on the look out for a hot british guy! If only that were all it took... Feeling pretty lost right now. Just when you think things are finally going for you, and you wonder if this is what happiness feels like, one domino is all it takes to make it all come tumbling down. But maybe that's the point. It's all in some sort of delicate balance. Nothing is ever for sure, and what makes it all worth it is the balancing act you have to do every day to make it work. | | |
| I am awful about staying consistent with these updates. Cliff Notes on my life since June 1st...
* One year older
* My role model Norm Mineta stepped down from his Cabinet position. Still waiting to hear what he has planned next in his amazing life. He is such a trailblazor...it will be so weird not having him in the Cabinet. I know I would not be able to do the things I'm doing today without his accomplishments.
* Traveled to the following places for work - Houston, Phoenix, New Orleans, Philly. Not so impressed with Houston. (No zoning laws? Oh come on! Coming from a city like Philly that prides itself in aesthetics, Houston was quite a disappointment.) The dry heat in Phoenix really did make a difference! (I was walking around outside in 109 degree weather, and I wasn't sweating! So bizarre.) New Orleans was hot and humid, as expected. (I noticed more public construction projects underway since April, but the New Orleans East community is now in a battle with the city over a landfill being placed in their backyards without due process.) As always, it was good to be home in Philly.
* Work is full of stress, but I'm getting the hang of it. I have 3 interns, so that has been helpful. My coworker and I are still holdingdown the fort as our boss travels all over the place--who knows where he is half the time, we forget.
I don't have any travels for a while now, so I hope I can get more acclimated with being a D.C. resident. Haven't been able to go out as often as I would like, and everything is so expensive. I'll continue to investigate cheaper, more local things to do around here. | | |
| This one woman we report to at work really intimidates me. She's actually nicer in person, but I get scared to talk to her on the phone because I can't read her facial expressions. I spent all day working on a request for information that we got in our office on Friday afternoon...only to find out at 3:30pm that she wanted it by the end of the work day. 15 minutes after I found this out, I get an e-mail saying, "Actually, can you just bring over the materials now?" Funny, Federal Agencies are notoriously slow--but then something like this is supposed to be done 5 minutes ago. I guess I'm not used to her way of managing--points out what we're doing wrong, not much communication otherwise. ::sigh:: | | |
| * Stepped in banana during my walk to the metro. At first I thought it was dog poo. Only I would find a banana to walk through, gross. * Had a mini breakdown about work. After letting it all out I took a nice, hot shower, calmed down, and started fresh the next morning. * Found out I may return to New Orleans for a couple weeks to conduct follow-up work on what I had done earlier this month, making sure federal agencies are doing what they said they would do to help the AAPI victims. * Got my futon. No more air mattress! Yay! * Could not get my futon to recline. Dammit. * Fought with my futon (it was winning for a while), when all of a sudden it slammed down flat. * Decided to keep my futon as a bed for a while... * Finally got the ice cream I had been craving since last week. Chocolate chip cookie dough. I told myself I deserved it. * Met with Congressman Honda, one of my heros. What a funny man. Why can't my Congressman be like him? So laid back, off the cuff...real. * Sang karaoke and had a few beers with Congressman Honda. The coolness factor increases.
